- New York Jets vs Philadelphia Eagles - PHI PK, OVER 34
After the first week of the preseason a small buzz began to swell around the possibilities of Michael Vick. Then came week 2 and everyone was reminded why no team offered to make him their starting quarterback. Vick will have another chance to show people his stuff as he will play the entire first half when the NYJ come to town on Thursday. Rex Ryan has already said that he only plans to dress 36 players and that Sanchez will be calling in some plays. With a solidified QB rotation and only a few players climbing a mountain for a roster spot, the Jets couldn't be more disinterested in this game. Rex Ryan might be at the airport before the final whistle blows. For the Eagles, Kafka showed the coaches he's got a little game by doing his best John Elway impersonation against the Chiefs and Reid will use the second half to coach him up in his last game action of the season. PHI also have a fierce competition at WR as the depth battle it out on Thursday. Free NFL Pick PHI PK and OVER 34.
- Carolina Panthers vs Pittsburgh Steelers - UNDER 37
In 42 possessions this preseason, CAR offense has yet to score a touchdown. CAR has also allowed the least amount of yards in the preseason. Like most coaches, Fox will want to rest the starters and avoid injuries. Tomlin might play his starters a series or two, but they are coming off a short week. Things aren't exactly looking bright in Pittsburgh as they have the Big Ben drama looming over them this week and both of the replacement QB's have looked less than impressive. At least Polamalu's hair is insured for 100 million dollars. Normally I would side with PIT in this situation, but the only strong play is the UNDER. Free NFL Pick UNDER 37.
- Seattle Seahawks vs Oakland Raiders - SEA +3.5
Coach Tom Cable doesn't expect much in his final preseason game as he has yet to win a final preseason game since he's been calling the shots. This week he said his top two priorities will be tackling and finishing blocks. It's no wonder this is on the agenda as they have been pathetic on special teams. They’re averaging 3.6 yards per punt return while allowing 17.2. For SEA, Carrol is a little bit more of an unknown. Whitehurst will see a lot of action, but while he has had his moments, he has also been intercepted four times in three games. Thankfully for him and the rest of the team, they get to close things out vs the Raiders. Take the generous 3 and half points and run with the lesser of the two evils.
Free NFL Pick SEA +3.5.
- Cincinnati Bengals vs Indianapolis Colts - CIN -6.5
It’s no secret that the Colts shut things down in the preseason. The organizational attitude towards winning clearly resonates amongst the players as they are allowing a pathetic 43 points a game. Fans will see a lot of JT O’Sullivan and Palmer jr in this game and despite their sporadic play, they should have little problem outperforming the likes of Painter and Hiller. At the moment, the Colts are more concerned with where the game officials are positioned rather than the opposing teams. CIN need to lay a touchdown to cover, but that won’t be a problem. Free NFL Pick CIN -6.5
- New Orleans Saints vs Tennessee Titans - OVER 41
Two contrasting teams meet up on Thursday when the high-flying Saints take on the low-scoring Titans. Normally, the smart money would be on the Saints in this one, but Fisher has already announced his intentions to play the starters for close to a half (if not longer). Don’t expect to see Gage or Washington this week as both are still nursing injuries. There should be a lot of mismatches on the field throughout the game as both teams will be using different schedules for their starters/backups and this should translate into more scoring opportunities. Free NFL Pick OVER 41.
- Green Bay Packers vs Kansas City Chiefs - GB +5.5
As everyone knows, Aaron Rodgers has been on fire this preseason. This has overshadowed the play of Matt Flynn. Ok so he put up two touchdowns against a disinterested Colts team, but it’s a nice improvement over his first two games of the preseason. Thankfully for him, he will be playing a lot against a Chiefs team that is putting all their focus on playing the young guys. It’s possible that Brodie Croyle returns to the lineup in this game, but with so many starters on the sidelines and so much inexperience in the key backup spots, GB should have little trouble keeping things close. Take the points with confidence. Free NFL Pick GB +5.5.
