A young sixers team showed their age last time out. Still, they are coached by one of the best in the business, Doug Collins, and he will certainly have his team fully prepared to even the series at two games apiece.
Collins’ use of Iguodala to defend Pierce worked at times, but he rarely got his feet in the right position to force Pierce to go to one side. The Lakers were a great example of this defensive tactic in their horrid 2-minute loss to the Thunder in Game 2 Wednesday. They used Sessions to guard Westbrook and force him in one direction. Once this was achieved, defensive help from the Laker front court was aggressive and timely and, for 46 minutes, they executed this game plan to perfection. Apparently, when the Thunder called time out trailing by seven points with two minutes to go in the game, the Lakers mistakenly thought the game was over. Look for the 76ers to employ a very similar defense on both Rondo and Pierce throughout this game and for the entire 48 minutes.
In past games, Boston is 10-21 ATS losing 13.1 units per one unit wagered when their opponents make 32% to 38% of their 3 pointers in a game spanning the last two seasons. Moreover, the 76ers are a stout 15-7 ATS making 7.3 units per one unit wagered when their opponents make 43% to 47% of their shots in a game this season .
